The future of refugees is a growing global problem. Refugees live in camps or shared rooms in neighbouring countries. They cannot work and they receive very little health care, education and other services.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) counts 15.2 million with an additional 26.4 million displaced within their own lands. However, the rich world has suffered burnout. Even countries that have signed the UN’s Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, approved in 1951, are often unwilling to recognise asylum claims. Hosts are increasingly unfriendly to refugees.
