Why were the pilots so shocked and surprised?
The New York Times has reported that two former Navy pilots had a dramatic encounter with a UFO in 2004. On December 16, Pentagon has released video evidence recorded during the event.
In 2004, near the San Diego coast, David Fravor and Jim Slaight spotted a UFO 100 miles off the coast while flying F-18s. The missile cruiser USS Princeton was trailing the object for two weeks. The pilots saw the object at 80,000ft, then it descended to 20,000ft and disappeared from the radar.
Fravor saw a 40-foot oval-shaped object hovering 50 feet over the sea, causing waves in the water. He advanced to get a closer look, but the object began ascending toward him and then disappeared. He said, "It accelerated like nothing I’ve ever seen," and he was "pretty weirded out." When the two fighter jets moved 60 km to a meeting place (referred to in the navy as a 'cap point'), the object was already at the cap point. He concluded: "I have no idea what I saw. It had no plumes, wings, or rotors and outran our F-18s. I want to fly one."
The jets returned to their mothership and reported the details, but no further investigation was done.
